Nokia, the global leader in mobile communications, has chosen Vamosa Content Porter for Vignette© to help them to upgrade their existing Vignette implementation into Vignette V7. Newly launched Vamosa Content Porter for Vignette offers Vignette customers an automated path to either upgrade or replace their Vignette software, whilst preserving their content and process investment.
Vignette launched V7 of its software which incorporated many architectural changes, rendering earlier implementations of Vignette incompatible with the new Vignette. Upgrading from V5 or V6 to V7 of Vignette is a big challenge to many customers according to Brendan Greene, Chief Technology Officer of Vamosa. "In many cases it involves a completely new implementation of Vignette, but what happens to the data which exists in the back release? This is where Vamosa Content Porter for Vignette excels - we have the technology to grab data from the old implementation, to then re-condition that data and finally to re-deploy anywhere - whether to Vignette V7, or to any other enterprise content management system" Greene continues.
Nokia have completed the first phase of the migration using Vamosa Content Porter for Vignette's audit module. This allows for the full examination of all data stored within the Vignette content management store and the creation of an extensive set of documents and programme plans for the ultimate migration. The resultant reports and programme plan are then used to build the migration environment within the migration module of Vamosa Content Porter for Vignette. This module allows for the full capture, enhancement and load of all relevant content into any target enterprise content management system such as those offered by IBM, Documentum, Interwoven, or even the latest version of Vignette.
