Documents and images, web pages, links; the type of data which has been termed ‘unstructured’. Also the type of data which envelops organisations, which exists in such volumes that most observers say that 80% of all corporate data exists in this format.

But trying to manage this data is difficult, often downright impossible because of its very nature:

• It tends not to be fully standardised
• It is not fully tracked, nor traceable
